THE dress!

Drum Roll please! And the winner is: The David's Bridal $99 Gown Sale Dress (for $549) bought on Monday, March 22, 2010 with one of my best friends Martha! I love it. It is simple yet sophisticatedly elegant. When I first tried dresses back in December with Stephen (no photos), he loved this San Patrick's dress Esfera (from Spain). It was $1000, technically still in budget but I didn't want to pay that much. Come on, it's just a dress. So my thought was to order it online on kaanaca.com which is an Asian wholesale company that can make any dress custome sized for $300 or less and in about 4 weeks. So my aunt texted me on Monday afternoon about the David's Bridal sale. I texted Martha and didn't think she'd come because she works in Alhambra, but she did! We went and I found something really similar to the Esfera. It was in the color I liked: ivory, flattering, simple, yet elegant. I love that I can dress it up with the accessories because that's what I love.
I was joking with Stephen when I saw a wedding dress in a catalog that had pockets because I love it. They are practical and just so useful. So the way that this sample dress is made, I can almost use it as a pocket for at least my cell phone. I will now be able to load pictures during the wedding day to facebook. Awesome!

All joking aside though. I like the dress. I'm glad I have something that Stephen liked, since he is the one viewing me and will be with me forever! My other ideas was that after the wedding I'd love to have the dress tailored into a going out dress for our first year anniversary. No sense in paying for a $600 dress and not be able to wear it more than once! At least not to me anyways. So there you go, a preview of the dress. Lots of people commented on having it on facebook for the world to see, but I don't care. Honestly, on the wedding day I will look so different from my cell phone uploaded pictures that it doesn't really matter. It doesn't make sense to me when couples have had sex and then the groom can't see the wedding dress. I guess I'm not like the rest of the world. I'm waiting until I get married, but my groom can see a version of the dress I'll be wearing.  I don't believe in luck, I believe in God.

Tomorrow: The taste testing at the caterers!

Our first registry gift!

Our first registry gift was sent with love all the way from Iraq where my closest age cousin, sister from another mother, Karina & Todd Kabalan currently live serving in the Armed Forces, God BLESS them! It's so great! It reminds me that I need to change the address on all those registries to our new apartment. I am so amazed by the kindness of my family and how great and supportive they are. I really do love them and I feel the love they give me. I had to open 3 boxes and untie 1 huge cute bag (which will now be my comforter holder bag) to get to the gift. When I opened it up, I realized why there was so many boxes, to keep the dishes from breaking. Check out this cute dinnerware set from Target! LOVE IT!

Moving in!

We're moving into our new apartment today with some help from Lindsay and Jack. We're picking up my mom's old furniture from Lindsay's old apartment in Upland and bringing it to Fullerton in Jack's truck (who knew Jack drove stick or had a big truck?). So awesome to have cool friends and family. We're also taking the refrigerator and dining table and chairs.

We're also taking our current bed from Fullerton and transferring it over as well as ALL of my things. Steven will slowly be moving in over the next few weeks to slowly wean himself from the family financially as well as physically. I think our room will be very vacant without all my things though, lol. Today we might possibly take the desk and bookshelf if they fit and if we have time. I didn't realize that we'd need some boxes, and we don't have any so reusable bags here we come. Luckily for us most of my things are so organized the way they are that we don't need boxes (except for the books and dishes).

I also love these fruit centerpieces

And best of all a candy buffet. This is a great way to add color to the wedding and let people enjoy dessert.
